Daniels Family Farm
Welcome to Daniels Family Farm where we raise and market a variety of the finest shelled walnuts available. We grow Serrs, Chandlers, Tulares and Hartleys.
English walnuts are among some of the healthiest of foods. Visit our walnut fact page for more information. Our farm was established by Fred and LaVerne Daniels in 1965. We have made many improvements over these past 40 years.
Our home and the walnut groves are located west of Porterville, California in the beautiful San Joaquin Valley.
We are proud to be a family owned and operated American Family Farm at a time when family farms are fast becoming rare.
Three generations work in the orchard and modern processing and packaging plant.
All of the walnut farming and processing is done completely by our family.
To maintain freshness, our walnuts remain in cold storage until shipment. We sell these high quality, delicious, nutritious nuts to wholesalers, bakeries and the general public alike. Whether you want a 5 pound box or a ton, we will do our best to serve your needs. Give us a call. We'd love to hear from you. Visit our walnut product page for prices. Growing and marketing English walnuts is a year round business. Our walnut groves are
carefully tended and cared for.
We use a number of specialized machines to harvest our walnuts. Harvest begins using a "shaker" equipped with rubber clamps to grab and shake the walnuts from the tree. A blower blows the walnuts off the berms; the large brush is picked up. The ridges are hand raked to get the walnuts that the blower missed. The sweeper then windrows the walnuts;
Followed by a pickup machine with a bank-out wagon throwing out sticks and twigs which cause trouble at the hulling plant. The walnuts are then elevated into nutbuggies and transported to the hulling plant.
The green hulls are removed, nuts washed, cleaned and graded and elevated into drying trailers where propane heat is blown up through the walnuts till the moisture content is just right for shelling. We begin shelling and shipping in October.
